why cant Santa bring me a ho? haha ok seriously tho can this stupid holiday shit just get over with NOW please? I got work to do!!!!

I am taking a break from ponies and comic book psycho bitches and have started on a revised version of the portrait of Angelina Jolie I did back in 2005 fav.me/d2scehs I have always liked the overall design and her expression, but its so flat, boring and LIGHT! Part of that is simply the materials I was working with at the time, harder pencils and smoother paper, but the other part is lack of skill, lack of confidence and lack of experience in this medium. I have thought of doing another version for quite some time now but wanted to make sure I was up to the task of improving on the previous one. I've spent almost 2 weeks working on graphite studies of her hat and accessories, hairstyle, dress and jewlery. I've been pouring over my art books looking at portraits from the Victorian masters because that is the look i want to achieve, that rich look of oil paint. I dunno if i can do it but i will certainly give it a go. There will be many challenges in rendering all the textures added to this new version so I def have my work cut out for me but I've been playing it safe for a while now I think and its time to kick my own ass and do something more challenging. I think it will most likely take around 2 months to complete as I am pretty much settled on using Museum board and that always takes longer to finish because of the toothy surface. The trade off is that nearly unlimited amounts of pigment can be used...layers, layers, layers! yay layers!
