This is amazing! That hair! I just can't get over how detailed it is. I can't imagine how long that took you to fill in all those wondrous details that make this hair look so silky, shiny, soft...alive! And the wisps which make it look as though it's blowing are one of my favorite parts. There is some real motion to this piece that gives the picture such life. I really love the way you added in the freckles. They are so subtle, yet very present at the same time. That eye is incredible captivating! The highlight is just another element that gives the portrait such life, making it look wet, and clear and real. The eyebrow is just incredible with the detailing in every strand of hair there. I love the lips too. You've made the creases look so authentic! I love it!!!

You're welcome! Wow, 8 hours just for the pencil drawing! Of course with all the details, that doesn't really surprise me. The time put in definitely shows! :)

much time was spent lightly drawing in (and erasing) wispy lines trying to get a pleasing composition with her hair. i bet 5 hours was spent just on her hair. thanks again :)

I've seen some drawing tutorials that employ that erasing technique and it seems really neat. I don't think it would work quite that well with colored pencil since when you erase colored pencil, it leaves the color residue behind. But then again, I've never tried it. So five hours on just the hair! Wow, that's some dedication. Of course in my own drawings, I usually spend most of the time on the hair too. It's the thing I love the most!

i wasnt really referring to a technique per se i just meant lots of trial and errors (hence much erasing) until i got a design that i liked :D

you are correct tho colored pencil does not erase well.

hair and boobs, those are my specialties, lol

Oh, okay. I definitely do a lot of that kind of erasing too. My main problem area is the hands. It's so funny on my sketches. There are always huge, dark smudge marks where the hands are b/c I have to erase so much, lol! In those tutorials it's kind of neat when they use the eraser as a tool for making highlights. ^^

And you do your specialties quite well, might I add! :)

Very beautiful pencil portrait! :wow: Of course the hair is very beautiful and flowing, but her features are very well done as well; those big, shining eyes in particular. Great choice of a model. She’s a very lovely lady~ ;P

oh no young one we do not "color" our graphite drawings for they would turn into a smooshy grimy gray mess if we did. we must do a "new" version of the same picture!
